Well, just getting started.  Shortly I will be updating the Points of Interest to include the industrial tracks with descriptions of what is there.  The train sightings are updated as they come in.  Just so everybody is aware, I view this site at a resolution (screen size for those of you who only know how to type and click) of 1280x1024 - so it looks pretty good to me.  You shouldn't have a problem at a different resolution, but if it is smaller, then the tables won't look as neat.

This site covers my journeys around the Delaware & Hudson in the Capital Region of New York.  Below is a list of locations, starting at Kenwood Yard and heading north, where I do my railfanning of the D&H.  Click on the location for a brief description and images from that location.  Comments and suggestions are welcome, please e-mail me at [email protected].

Sightings of trains which operate over the D&H - This can be useful to someone who is interested in fanning the D&H, specifically the Capital District and the Colonie Main, as you can have an estimate of times trains can be expected in the area, as well as train symbols and descriptions of the trains.

The chase of SC-1 on Tuesday, March 6th, 2001 - Two feet of snow in the Capital Region, time to go railfanning! UPDATED!!!!!

The chase of 258 on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2002 - Trace showed 3 SOO units on the train, couldn't pass it up! - coming soon (at least as soon as I develop the film)!

Mileposts with an "A" in front of them are in distance from the former D&H building in Albany, NY.  Straight number mileposts are distances from Mattawkeag, ME - they were renumbered while Guilford owned the D&H, since it was their major east-west line.  Control Point (CP) is a designation for an interlocking - the switches and signals are actually controlled by the dispatcher in Minneapolis.  CPC is read Control Point, Canadian Main; CPF is read Control Point, Freight Main; and CP 0x is a designation for a Colonie Main Control Point.

All mainline communications are on channel 161.100 (AAR 66) while Kenwood, Mohawk, and Saratoga Yards are on channel 160.530 (AAR 28).  The north end dispatcher is on AAR 66 and is situated in Minneapolis, MN.
